2024 VMAs Recap (Taylor's Version)

Literally gagged.

The time has finally come! The 2024 VMAs occurred last night in New York, and it was amazing. Taylor looked so great in THREE different outfits, won so many awards and gave a great speech that had everyone giggling and kicking their fit and spamming their friends with tons of messages (or maybe that was just me). Here’s a recap of everything that happened at the 2024 VMAs!

Taylor’s Outfits

Taylor didn’t go on the red carpet until probably the last possible minute, and I started stressing out that she wouldn’t be attending. However, eventually, Taylor DID show up wearing an outfit that gagged everyone. She wore a Christian Dior yellow corset gown.

However, about 30 minutes after the award show started, Taylor left her seat for about 30 minutes and returned wearing a different outfit: a MONSE sparkly mini-dress with beautiful details (UFO, gardens, a man, etc.).

Taylor wore a different outfit to the VMAs afterparty, which resembled her second dress from that night.

She is now the most awarded artist in the history of the VMAs with a total of 30 VMAs!

Taylor Going MIA

Taylor was in a very weird mood last night. She didn’t go on the red carpet until the last possible minute. After receiving the Best Collaboration award, Taylor disappeared for about 30-40 minutes and returned wearing a different dress. She came back and watched Katy Perry’s performance. She went MIA again for literally 1.5 hours until finally returning (in the same outfit) to receive the Video Of The Year award.

She missed both Chappell and Sabrina’s performances, which is truly a crime to me. Objectively (not so objectively), these were the two best performances of the night.

Taylor’s Speeches

Taylor gave 2 speeches last night. The first speech she gave was after winning the Best Collaboration award for Fortnight. She of course thanked Post Malone and talked about how incredible he is, and then she spoke about the 9/11 tragedy and how that is the most important thing about that night and everything else falls behind.

The other speech she gave was 3 hours later, after making an appearance again to calm the fans down (WHERE IS TAYLOR was trending on Twitter). She received the Video Of The Year award and gave the most iconic speech of all time. She thanked everyone who helped make the video and then she thanked TRAVIS (!!!!!!) and the fans. Taylor finished her speech by, of course, telling everyone to vote.

“It was a fun video to make. And something I’ll always remember when I would finish a take and I would say cut and we would be done with that take I would always just hear someone like cheering like ‘Woo!’ from across the studio where we were shooting it. And that one person was my boyfriend Travis. Everything that man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic. So, I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot. Because I’ll always remember that.”

My Experience Watching The VMAs

This year I decided to watch the VMAs live, even though they were literally in the middle of the night. I had so much watching it! When Taylor wasn’t MIA, MTV literally always had the camera on her (so I just watched her dancing and talking to people most of the night).

I loved seeing all the different performances, especially the best two (which Ms Taylor Swift decided to skip): Chappell Roan performing her iconic hit Good Luck Babe and Sabrina Carpenter performing a triple mashup of Please Please Please, Espresso and Taste.

The one thing I didn’t know about the VMAs is the amount of commercial breaks they have. The amount of times I watched Megan Thee Stallion and Travis’ Pepsi ad last night is actually insane, but it was totally worth it and I had a great time.

When Taylor mentioned Travis in her speech I just froze and stared at the screen in utter shock. Can you believe we FINALLY heard her saying Travis?! It took her almost a year but she made it and I am so proud.

Well, the VMAs were so much fun. I had a great time and the craziest thing is that I am not even tired! I spent the entire day debating with my friends on which one of Taylor’s outfits was the best, and now I’m going to watch Taylor saying “My boyfriend, Travis” on repeat for an hour.
