Lucky me! After 394 days of anticipating and excitedly waiting for my dream to come true: my Eras Tour show got canceled due to terror threats.
That was definitely not a simple thing for me to process, and I am still processing it. I promised you a lot of Eras Tour content this month, and many stories about my own personal experience. So here I am, keeping my promise and telling you about my Eras Tour cancelation experience!
Finding Out
I found out about the foiled attack right before I went to bed on August 7th. I was very worried that Taylor would cancel or postpone but everyone told me to relax and that it was thwarted and everything will be alright.
The next morning I woke up and immediately went to check. All three Vienna shows got canceled. I cried for about four hours straight. I literally sobbed and was so heartbroken because I realized that my dream was not going to come true.
I woke up to about 10 missed calls and 100 deleted messages from people who didn't want me to find out through a text message. I honestly got so much support from my family and friends who all knew how much this meant to me.
The Flight To Vienna
Even though the show got canceled, my family decided to go to Austria anyway. The flight was the same day as the day I found out, so it was all very fresh and I was very depressed.
However, my flight was also full of depressed Swifties!! We talked and I traded bracelets with some of the girls who were really sweet. The Swifties got a shout out from the pilot and they put Shake It Off as we were leaving the plane.
Seeing so many people feeling exactly the way that I feel made me feel so much better. Even though I was still (and I still am) devastated, I was actually able to smile.
Vienna (Taylor’s Version) (Minus Taylor)
My journey in Vienna began on Friday, August 9th. I woke up in the morning in not such a great mood, because I was in Vienna for an Eras Tour show but there was no Eras Tour show happening.
We had breakfast in the hotel and I was pretty much depressed until I realized my whole hotel was full of Swifties. I saw girls in TTPD shirts, in full outfits, and even a girl with the iconic Valentine’s Day shirt. They were all wearing friendship bracelets and we traded and talked for a while. They really made me so much happier.
After breakfast, I decided that I was going to wear my full Eras Tour outfit and hang out in Vienna with all of the other Swifties.
The businesses in Vienna were so nice and many shops, museums etc. offered people with concert tickets free stuff. And let me tell you - the lines were SOOOO long. Swarovski offered Swifties free necklaces, and the line was the longest one I have ever seen in my entire life.
I went to a big square in Vienna and it was packed with Swifties. I traded almost all of my bracelets and talked to so many sweet people. Swifties are truly my favorite type of people. I’ve seen people wearing some incredible outfits: key-lime green dogs, a girl wearing a friendship bracelet dress, a man wearing a “God save the queen” shirt with a picture of Taylor on it etc.
We were waiting for the singing to start, but nothing happened so we went to the hotel for a few hours to rest. The second people started gathering in the square, we immediately went to the square and met my friend who was supposed to go to the show with me.
Let me tell you, this was one of the best experiences of my life. There were literally THOUSANDS of people there and we were all singing and screaming and having the time of our life. It was like a support group of people who were trying to do it with a broken heart.
The amount of people was truly insane. I’ve never seen such a big crowd gathering together to sing in public. It really felt like being at the Eras Tour, minus Taylor, the stadium, and the actual Eras Tour.
The Day Of My Show
As you can probably guess, August 10th was not a happy day for me. I mean, it was supposed to be the best day of my life, and instead of being in the stadium with 60000 people, I was depressed and thinking about what could’ve been.
I was really bummed out in the first part of the day, and I may or may have not cried a little. So much fun!!
However, in the afternoon, my friend and I went to the square we were in the day before. It was packed with Swifties and I traded all of the bracelets I had left. We got free ice cream from a cafe that felt sorry for Swifties, and it made me much happier. There were signs all over the square and we walked into stores that offered a 22% discount to all people with Eras Tour tickets and stores that played Taylor’s music.
Afterward, we went back to the main part of the square, where all the Swifties started gathering. I signed a Junior Jewels shirt and an Austrian flag that will be taken to one of the London shows, and spoke to some really sweet girls.
We wanted to start singing again, but it was too noisy and nobody was able to hear the music. Then, a tourist street cart arrived and the passengers were Swifties and put on Taylor’s music. We literally MARCHED after the cart, walking in the center of Vienna and screaming different songs. We sang the entire 10 minute version of All Too Well and so many people in the street were filming and staring at us. It was incredible.
My Overall Experience
I left Vienna this morning (I’m still traveling though), and even though I didn’t get to go to the place I wanted to be in the most, I still had a great time. Sure, I am still VERY MUCH heartbroken that the show was canceled, but I would much rather be disappointed than be dead/hurt/traumatized forever.
I think I had the best time I could’ve had considering the circumstances, and I am thankful for getting to experience Vienna (Taylor’s Version). I hope that one day I will actually get to go to the Eras Tour, but even if I don’t, I still had a great time this weekend. I am still waiting for Taylor to say something about what happened, and hope we will be able to get compensation: one for the money (obviously) and two for the show.
I wanna thank again to all of the Swifties in Vienna, who made the best out of the situation and proved that we can do it with a broken heart. After all, many people experienced the Eras Tour, but not many people experienced Vienna after the Eras Tour was canceled.
I'm so happy you still enjoyed a fun experience with so many Swifties in Vienna! After the Eras Tour, meeting a bunch of strangers who are Swifties and hanging out with them is a dream! W people who gave free stuff to y'all!
I'm glad that you at least had fun and I hope that tay isn't blaming herself 🫶🏻
